It needs more cowbell!
Per Robert Wall on the recording.org site, Stephen Paul is really sick. REALLY sick.

His quote (and request) from the SP board on RO: "Pray for Stephen, folks. I mean really, really pray."

I think we should probably do a little (or more) of the same over here.

Alan-any idea what he's fighting?

That is very sad to hear. I hope the best for him.

Last time I head from stephen on recording.org, he was recovering from this "minor cold" as he puts it, but that was about a week ago.

but, yeah, he is a great man, especially when he began to talk about music theroapy. Best wishes to him.

For the past week Ive been suffering from diabetic neoprothey, and it is the most weird feeling shit to go through. Right now my whole left side is tingling and is pretty much useless, Im typing with my right hand only, its that bad. I hope Stephen will get better, I just need to regulate my sugar.

Unfortunately, in Stephen's overall case, it's not a matter of getting better... it's just a matter of how much longer Stephen can continue to function with anything close to a productive and/or bearable existence. He's already lost most of the use of his hands, a foot in height, a large percentage of his weight, and gets through the day on morphine lollipops. I can't tell you the specifics of his disease, because I don't know.

Hopefully this particular incident is a just a passing unrelated illness, but in the context of such a fragile health condition, any health setback is dangerous.

Just out of curiosity, about how old is Stephen?

P.S. Wayne, get better. It's good to have a KC connection on this site.

Stephen is 52 yrs old, although this 52 yr old's memory could be incorrect by a year or two.

Thanks Bradd, Im not posting as much because typing one handed is a pain in the ass when half your posts time out.

Darrin, a company called EAS makes nutrition bars that are low sugar
and low carbohydrate. They in part, helped me lose 30+ pounds over
the last 4 months. Hope you feel better soon too.

Darrin,

Take care of that sugar control the best you can and get as educated about it as you can!

I am diabetic and have been on insulin myself since January 1988. I also work in health care (non invasice cardiovascular imaging) and see many people in very bad shape who did not control their bllod sugars...it provides me with daily motivation.

It can get MUCH worse than being numb ... continual severe pain, gangegrene and eventual amputations.

Please make sure you are getting help from your doctor, see a dietician (most insurances will pay with MD referral), join the American Diabetes association and read up! Many free community service programs should be available as well.

Daily doses of vitamin E pills (500-1,000 i.u.s) are helpfull for most diabetics in promoting vascular healing and delaying complications.

I will keep Stephen Paul and you in my prayers but Darrin get all the personal help you can get to get your limbs in good shape.

Either you control your blood sugars or they control you.....it sucks but it is true.

Peace and Health

I went in for testing, and blood sugar is at 116, which is good, but bad cosidering that they ruled out the neuoprothy. the catscan found nothing, but an MRI has been ordered, which means that a stroke hasnt been 100% RULED OUT.

This Sucks ass.

Darrin,

Well I'm glad that your not diabetic.

If the MRI does not show anything obvious you need to see a Neurologist to get teo the bottom of this.

One other possibility if they rule out a stroke is "subclavian steal syndrome".

Some people get a blockage in a subclavian artery that feeds the arm arteries. The arm arteries "steal" blood from the vertebral arteries which should be sending blood to the brain. This can result in a very weak arm that gets just enough blood flow to keep it alive but not enough to keep the arm very usefull.

Hang in there,

Thats a result of staying away from sugar, and taking glucontrol evryday. Ive been diabetic for years, but under control. thats an interesting theory. but my whole left side is effected, not just the arm but the leg and even the face.
