normalize crashes win98

I asked this on the ntrack board, but thought I would ask here as well.

When normalizing a track, ntrack crashes with an IPF. Specifically:

NTRACK caused an invalid page fault in
module NTRACK.EXE at 0167:004cf573.

My system specs: win98 on an athlon axp 1800, audiophile 2496, 256 MB RAM. Recording at 96 kHz.

I might have to buy XP, but am not excited to. I couldn't get my soundcard working with w2k, my preference of M$ operating systems.

Any ideas or pointers in the right direction are appreciated.

Update: I can normalize one track, but when I try to normalize a second track, it crashes. If I close the program and go back in, I can normalize one more track. Try again and it crashes. By repeatedly crashing and getting back in, I was able to normalize one track at a time. Weird.

Heh, the normalize function doesn't even work for me any more. Do you scan the track first? What peak value does it come up with? When I scan a track with it, the peak value is usually around -200db...haha.

Anyhow, normalizing is really only something that you should be doing in very particular situations. You could always just turn the track volume up and get the exact same results.
