Nord Lead 3

WORD!

P.S. The reason you couldn't get sounds like that out of a triton is because it is rom based. To get those "hard" sounds you need an analog modeling, or virtual analog synth. The nord is that, and as far as monsterous, nasty, hard, fat, etc. sounds, it does 'em best!
But I also love my Korg ms2000, it's got a great sound as well. And for the price, you can't beat it! About $600 USD new...

The waldorf and nova are great too. But like you said... Look on stage at your favorite acts and see what they are playing to make those sounds. It's usually a lead2 or lead3.

and where do you get that from??? ... other than the fact that they are performance oriented and not as much studio oriented...?

anyway... of course it has to sound good, and if you don't want to take forever to learn your synth in and out, the NL's are a definite - and great sounding - buy... and if you wanna play rave music, (you mean trance?) you're not gonna be too much bothered with the low multitimbrality, but i'd advise you to get a delay box at least... delay is a big part of the entire electronic scene...

I get that from the fact that I see them on stage...

I've only been to a couple of shows lately; crystal method, and then the chemical bros.

They both had them.

I think you under estimate the capabilities of the lead3. But I also know what you mean about the non effected sound. That's why multiple synths are great.

that's more than 70% off from the prices over here in denmark! !! where's that 1 mio lottery ticket when you need one??
