sorry for the noob question, but i can't record audio into cool edit when hitting record.

b4 i formatted my harddrive i was able to and don't know how to get it back...i'm using an echo mia midi soundcard...i'd appreciate the help..thanks

thanks, is there any step by step on how to do this? its not just cool edit for example, its anything, ie cubase etc. thanks for the reply, i just need a few steps to know what to do. thanks

you will have to understand 3 things.
1. the control panel for your mia.
and set it up correctly.
this will be in your docn with the mia.
2.go into cool edit menus where preferences are set.
It will be in your cool edit docn and help files.
been awhile since i used it.
in preferences in cool edit you probably will see something like
mia wdm input and mia wdm output or wave in and outs.
3. click the record button on the track to enable track for recording.
then youll find in cool a global red (if i remember) record button which you click to start recording.
you should see a waveform being drawn while recording.
a tip. while educating yourself on set up hook a drum machine to line input of the mia with a continuous beat looped so you can try various settings in mia control panel and in the cool software. and recording each time.
when you see the waveform being drawn youll be working ok.
just remember to hit STOP. so you dont use up lots of disc space in testing.
hope this helps.

have fun !!
all the best.
search some of my back posts over the past year. lots of tips on recording and equipment etc.

Options > Device Order and Options > Device properties are the places in Audition where you specify how it should relate to your hardware.
