Hi, I'm looking to purchase a condenser that can be used to record different instruments (acoustic guitars, percussion) and vocals (screaming, rapping, singing). My price range is about 200-300 dollars. I think I want a good vocal mic foremost, but since I play drums and play with different musicians, a mic that serve several different purposes would be beneficial for me.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

The only one I can think of off hand that would do all of that "within reason" is probably Rode's NT1a.

It's not going to sound as nice as a ribbon on guitars, it's not going to handle aggressive vocal applications as well as a nice dynamic, it's not going to have the detail of a SM81 on guitars, but "it'll do" on just about anything.

The rode NT2A is possible if you are willing to invest $100 more. Its truly what I call a all-round purpose microphone. Have a check here.

NT1A is an excellent suggestion - totally agree, will be ok on most things and really good on some.
Great value for money too.

I'd second the NT1a or NT2a, and add the original sE2200a (just because it's cheaper than the new MKii one)
