i have had cakewalk pro audio 9 for a long time, but have never really used it until now.

here is the problem...

i have 2 midi tracks - a bassline and a drum track- and a few audio tracks for my guitar and vocals. i understand the recording features, but when i do a 'mixdown', all i get is my audio - my 2 midi tracks do not come through. what am i doing wrong?

thnx in advance...

i have a creative sound blaster live, but cannot find where the 'record from midi synth' option is located....any more help?

thanks...

Open the Creative Surround Mixer and look to the far right of the window. Can you choose "MIDI Synth" or something like that? It should be there somewhere, but it's along time since I've used a Creative soundcard.

thanks for the info, however...
i cannot find the creative surround mixer. i have the 'dell' version of the sb live and i went to creative's website and grabbed all the latest drivers, patches, etc. also, i have looked in the windows (xp) mixer for a place to select record to midi or something like that, but cant see anything there either...sorry to be a moron, but what else could i try?

well, i did find the creative mixer (mot surround mixer). clicking settings opens a window where i can select a recording tab. i can select record from - but i have the following options:

stereo mix
cd audio
TAD-in
Auxiliary
microphone
line in

but no midi!

thanks...

go to Control Panel> sounds& audio devices>AUDIO tab and select your recording, playback, and midi playback devices there.

In the creative mixer you can select your recording sources there as well under Options. I think it is in the drop down menu if I remember correctly you need a "midi synth" option added to your sources
