Hey guys, I'm super excited to be here! I'm attending LA Film School to attain my Bachelor's in Science of Music Production, and I found your site during one of our assignments. I've been writing and playing around with music production since I was a teen, and I'm excited to finally learn to do it from the pros!

Welcome.

Seems I've become the guy at the door, welcoming everyone and handing out name tags and advice.

If you are studying music production, there is a great old thread in the microphones section. It is really long but there is so much knowledge packed in it and it goes through why different microphones sound the way they do and such. Nothing you'll do in this field is more fundamental than what is in this thread Microphones how does polar patterns affect sound

Welcome Maria.

It seems we have picked up quite a few students from the LAFS. I'm curious about the things they teach there, and how it compares to work you may have done in the past.

You mention that you've been playing around with music production already. How was your music produced? Was it primarily produced in a DAW/Computer setting using synths and plugins, or by recording instruments in real space, like drums, guitars, violins or pianos.

Hey, thank you! I will definitely be checking this out!

Hi, and thanks for the welcome! I'm curious about those things too  While doing music production on my own, I use a DAW (I'm using Garage Band at the moment, until the school gives us Logic Pro etc), and all digital instruments until I learn how to do live. I've recorded an album in the past with live instruments, but with the help of professionals, so I don't know much on my own when it comes to live instruments.
