is there a way to reduce the noise level of some noisy preamps after recording live tracks, ie. in mix down or mastering?

yea i've got that 
but im wondering if theres anything that cuts down on the noise while the songs being mixed, i don't think there is but its always worth a try.

You're asking about after the fact. Noise reduction, either outboard or in a DAW, can probably help.
I have to say it though, prevention is the best cure. If you can't use quieter pres next time, work on gain staging for the best signal to noise ratio next time before you record.
