recently i started playing this american strat.great guitar and great tone....but these singles are fu*&^ing noisy---noise that is very defined when close-miking the amp.

will a BOSS NS 2 noise supressor help here?,,,,or should i change the pickups into FENDER VINTAGE NOISELESS.....?

It would be better to make the guitar as noise free as possible first. Then if need be add a noise suppressor.

I dont know about the American Strats, but on the Mexican Strats they skimp on the shielding. So you may just need to get it shielded. Again, I dont know if the Americans are shielded or not.

I was bothered by noisy Fender single coils in my Strat, so after some experimenting, I wound up going with Lace Sensors (Silver/neck, Gold/middle, Blue/bridge). They are totally quiet and sound great. I've tried a variety of different ones, and like this combination the best.

First, shield the guitar. Fender never does (they can sell them without it, so why should they). Then start thinking about pickups, but go with Kinmans. Same basic idea as the noiseless, but they actually sound good.

Ditto this. My American Strat Plus came factory-equipped with Gold Lace Sensors and they are absolutely quiet.

My USA Strat came already prepped for noiseless with the shielding paint or whatever that is they put in there, all I had to do was add the noiseless pickups.

They are perfectly quiet, and they sound way better than what came on it when I bought it. No more hum ever.....
