No I ain't got lots of fans screaming my name but I would like to use cubase or similar to control my keyboard etc. but how do you deal with the noise of the fan on your PCs when recording vox and acoustics.

This has come up a bunch of times, and a lot of good suggestions have been made. Jump up to the "search" function on the site, and do a search on the string "cooling AND noise": that got a whole slew of hits for me, including all the best fan threads.

There are special low-noise power supplies, you can add noise/vibration suppression materials to the case, you can use a keyboard/video extender and move it further away or out of the room entirely... I went with a low-noise power supply and rackmount case, tuned the fan speeds to the lowest possible without running into overtemp, added damping material to the case bottom and top, and ended up with a very quiet machine. Be prepared to spend a little money for the best results: you can do a lot essentially for free, but those last 3-6dB take some real doing...
