I just got a 234 cassette deck, and have found that the thing is really fricking noisy. When in playback or record, the deck makes an intermittent really loud, high-pitched whine, that sort of fades in and out. I'm almost thinking of recording it and posting it up here.
Any ideas of what this could mean? I popped the cover and can't seem to find anything obviously wrong, although I really don't know what to look for. Maybe a loose belt? Maybe the heads just need to be really cleaned? Can anyone give me an idea of what might possibly be wrong based on my description?
