What do you need it for? Are you recording, mixing...? If it were me I'd skip the gate. I don't like gating, it sounds unnatural

Depending on your budget and application, Samson have a very cheap and cheerful 4 channel gate/compressor, called the C4S, or something like that. It did a good job of cleaning up my drum tracks and making them more punchy, all in one rack unit, for 120 dollars.
