Noise from pairing specific patch cable with pedal

I've got a strange noise problem that I've never encountered before. One particular patch cable (1/4" TS) when connected to one pedal, a TC Electronic Vintage Bass Distortion, generates a loud buzz/humming noise. The same cable does not do this connected to anything else. Likewise, the pedal is perfectly quiet with any other cable.

The cable is a Monster (don't flame me, it came with a used keyboard I bought). An identical patch cable does not have this problem.

I have also observed the noise when the cable is connected to the output of the pedal.

The noise happens with the pedal off and mostly in the wet signal portion when the pedal is on.

Anyone have any ideas? Does the one cable have a particular capacitance that's causing it to be an antenna?

Turning the volume down on the bass doesn't kill the noise.

Recording of the noise:
First with the cable, then without. Signal chain: P-bass (vol up) -> cable in question -> TC pedal (off) -> second cable -> DI...

Thanks for anyone's help.

Just one bump cause I can't believe no one has a theory or insight...

I've been plugging in all my cables to this distortion pedal but can't find another cable that causes the problem. I got the pedal brand new and cheap on eBay and like it, but I want to determine if it has some problem that's going to bite me later. The dealer I bought it from has no more to exchange it with, and TC Electronic told me they can't even replace it, despite its being under warranty, because it was discontinued and they have none.

I'm inclined to keep it but am trying to figure out if it has something out of tolerance or is it just the one patch cable.

In any case, thanks in advance for any help.
