From the time I mailed it until the time it was returned was about 5 weeks or so. They also gave me a new powersupply.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the info, Dennis. How old was your card when you had the problem?

I'm not sure because I bought it used. I'll check it out when I get home to see if has a manafactured date on it anywhere.

Still waiting for a Repair Authorization so I can send it back to M-Audio.

I requested one in an e-mail to them last Friday night. I'll give them the weekend, but it's now Tuesday afternoon. I thought I was the only one with a bad work ethic. :D :D

Just a thought, but if it's faulty capacitors in the rack power circuits, then anyone who can use a soldering iron can probably swap them for you. Someone with experience in audio repair will be able to work out which ones to change without any diagrams, just from where they are on the circuit boards. They will very likely be a standard types. It's possible the original ones had too low a voltage rating, so I'd fit the next higher rating available. For example, on a 15volt supply they installed 16volt types - get 25volt.

Thanks, but I just feel more comfortable letting the manufaturer work on it. I got the repair authorization last night, so it'll be on the way to them shortly.

Hoepfully it will be on the way back to me shortly as well. :)

The Final Answer

Got my Delta 1010 back today. Rustyfingers nailed it on the head. Here's what the packing slip said:

Received all pieces.
Tested unit: failed.
Replaced all capacitors.
Tested unit: good.
No Charges!!!!!

(I particularly liked that last line.) :)

Turnaround time was exactly two weeks - including shipping time from NJ to CA. Not bad - although we sent it back UPS 3-day. I'm figuring it was only in their shop a couple of days.

after 3 yrs....,thats cool. It could have been worse, easily, which is my usual cup o' tea.

Normally that's my luck too, Ken. I fully expected a response like,

"Customer satisfaction is very important to us here at We Already Have Your Money Audio. Unfortunately, we no longer carry repair parts for this el cheap-o model you purchased last week. It pretty much looks like you're screwed. We will be happy, however, to sell you a new one though our new, factory-direct program at the unheard of price of list times 2."

:D

As they say, even a blind squirrel nabs an acorn occasionally.
