Hi everyone, I really need some help here and judging by some of these threads I think this is the right place.
I have Win 98 on my amd k62 machine and tried to play a midi file recently and got nothing. I tried the import function from within fruityloops, n-track, and windows media player and they do not play any MIDI sound. In fact, the media player and n-track both don't even load a midi file, the computer seems to "hang" and does not do anything. Fruity however, can load a midi file but no sound comes thru. All programs play waves just fine.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled these programs to try and fix the problem. Also, I installed a new pci ensoniq soundcard but the problem is still there even with the soundcard.

I do not use any extrnal interfaces, keyboards or anything like that. I simply tried to play the music thru my computer speakers like I regularly do with mp3's and cd's etc.

Thank you for any help you can give me. I'm thinking maybe virus or corrupt files somewhere???

Sounds like your MIDI drivers got trashed. Try reinstalling them.

Thanks but, where are the midi drivers located?
On the windows cd?
