Hi there, sorry if I appear thick.. just learning about MIDI!! I have a delta 1010LT sound card which is great. Just starting recording bass, guitar etc. The drummer has got an electronic drum kit which we were advised to record in midi then convert each track etc. When I plug the midi cables in and audio I hear it and it is creating notes on the screen to say it is recording a pad (snare) I have set the driver to delta card but no play back at all. It's all there except sound.

I run it on MAGIX Deluxe 2005 software.

Helpppp!!

In order to get sound fromn a midi track, you have to assign that track to control a synth-module(your drum brain), or a softsynth(software midi moduLE). the midi track tells the module to play, then you monitor the sound from the module. There a lot to this, but you should do some searching on the difference between midi and audio. sorry, wish I had some links.

actually if you run a midi out from your computer to the electronic drum midi in, you should hear sound from the outputs od the drum module.

Here are links to two good articles on midi basics - part one and part two.

Selecting the right midi note number - as well as the right midi channel - is all there is to getting a drum sound from a module. Just adjust either the transmitter (the drummer's electronic kit) or the receiver (the drum module) until you've got the right sounds coming from the right drum.
