No Sound from other programs

Whenever I open a project in Cubase, I can't play any other audio from, say, iTunes or Youtube videos, etc. Is there a way to fix this?
I remember I used to be able to.

you have windows 7 or vista right?
i had windows xp and i could listen to songs on youtube/spotify and hear the sound in cubase at the same time, but now i have windows 7 and in windows 7 you have to close cubase to be able to hear sounds in webbrowser and such, sorry for my bad english
