Hi folks. I'm sure you've heard this issue before so maybe somebody can help me out. I'm TOTALLY new to VSTi's, btw.

I'm using a SoundBlaster PC128 sound card to generate my midi sounds from imported midi drum tracks I create in "Jammer" software. So far, I haven't been satisfied with the midi sounds and so I wanted to try the LM-9 in Cubase 5 VST/32. But I can't hear anything. Here is the process I've been using:

(1) Turn on LM-9 in Cubase.

(2) Select a midi track with drum notes (say, snare drum).

(3) Select "LM-9" in the output box in the inspector for that midi track.

(4) I see the LM-9 audio channels in the audio mixer and volume is up.

(5) Press a pad in the LM-9 to test it and I do hear a sound in my headphones which are always connected directly to my soundcard.

(6) Mute all tracks except that particular midi track I want to listen to but there's no sound at all and no movement in the audio mixer.

I don't know much about midi settings and wonder if there's something in the Cubase "Midi Setup" that needs to be changed. For example, in that setup dialogue box in Cubase, I have "SB PC128 midi synth" selected (I think in the output box). I have tried to change that to "LM-9" but it hasn't helped.

I feel pretty confident that it CAN work on my computer but I'm definitely missing something. Can anyone walk me through this?

Thanks very much.

Elliott
