Envelope editing allows you to make basic changes to a song through a graphic automation interface. In general with CD architect you would just be doing volume changes between tracks, or custom fades and crossfades. Trimming in CD Architect is a basic 2 track editor. Its pretty primitive as far as intense editing goes, but its purpose is really to allow you basic editing of a track without having to reopen that track in your primary 2 track editor.
