Sorry, I didn't care for it. Good "drum" sounds, but overall it was a little too repetitive and too ELP for my taste (and I still listen to YES). If you're going to do instrumental, emulate Propellerheads or Swallow or Joe Satriani or Chemical Brothers or Meat Beat Manifesto or Ethyl Meatplow -- I don't know, somebody with a certain amount of elan, cool, avant garde -- je ne sais quoi.
Sorry, I don't mean to be harsh, but it was just a bit plodding. Not like song number 10 on NIN Downward Spiral, which is in a SOMEWHAT similar vein but really makes you FEEL something. Listen to that song and take note of the difference. If at about :50 you had some techno-type drums come in and flesh the song out, it could have some balls.
Okay, I often forget that this is a MIX forum. I hate that. I wish there was a site where you could just critique structure and "listenability" and shit.
The mix is good, actually, on my system. No real complaints, other than timing on the drums. Not sure if you were going for that effect, but it sound like mistakes. There's a fine line there.
By the way, listened to Capita to get a better feel for your stuff. That's a pretty cool song. I feel like I'm in a free Cuba or something when I listen to it. It's COMPLETELY different from your instrumental. I really enjoyed it. Well produced and mixed.
Now I'm listening to Sweet Home Chicago.
Okay, you have a wide range. Is this the same artist on each song? Sounds like you ripped songs from three different CDs and passed them off as your own. (That's not an accusation, just a commentary on your eclectic style -- I suffer from the same ailment.)
After listening to some of your other music, I have much more respect for your musicianship and "mixmanship." You have some good songs... I just didnt' care for this particular instrumental.
Who's playing the piano on Sweet Home Chicago? Nice. Keep up that stuff and let the weird instrumental go.
Now that NIN reference feels kind of... out of place. Oh, well.
Later.
