No mic sound outta my 424mk2,,,,what am i doing wrong????

alright,,,just got me a pevey ec-11 celeb series and ran it to one of my xlr jacks.(the ones with the 3 prongs),,,and i adjust all my lines and $hit and nothing....just a background hum of power,,,,no sound...am i supossed to run it to the other jacks or something??..im angry and confused...please help...i know its something very basic....

Did you bring up the mic gain on the channel that you plugged into?
