I am using Cakewalk Professional 6, in conjunction with a SoundBlaster Live! Platinum soundcard. I've never bothered to upgrade my version of Cakewalk, partly because of lack of wonga, but mainly because Pro 6 does pretty well everything I want it to. Except for one thing:
All my MIDI instruments are SoundFonts, and usually this serves me well, but for this problem: I can't seem to be able to apply any effects to the SF sounds from within Cakewalk.
I'm not quite sure why this would be. Maybe the "Reverb" and "Chorus" controls in Cakewalk 6 only apply to audio tracks; alternatively, maybe it's a limitation of the SB Live! drivers that I currently have installed. Either way, I'd really like to be able to apply reverb to my MIDI tracks, especially on orchestral-type sounds.
Does anyone know if I'd need to upgrade my version of Cakewalk, or my SB drivers, to get this feature?
Many thanks for your help!
Tim.
