No external drive error message

I have connected the external roland CD burner to the VS 1880 but it is not recognizing that I have one. I have tried changing the scsi channel, etc. I have turned on the CD drive before turning on the VS 1880. I am pulling my hair out trying to make it work... someone please help me! and Thank You So Much!
 
Which CD do you have? The older ones have a terminator that needs to be pluged in to one of the 50 pin connections on the back of the CD burner.
The newer ones have a switch that needs to be set to terminate. It most likely has the letters T, O, and A. T=terminate O=open A=auto.
Is this the only dirve connected to your VS?
The only drive that needs to be terminated is the last dirve in the SCSI chain.

If nothing that Goforit says works, I would try to a different SCSI cable.
