I've posted more then one cover in the clinic but never my own work, so I guess there's a first time for everything.
I recorded this song over a year ago but I only finished it now. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out although I think I'll have to retrack some of the vocals.
I like your vocal on this original.
I don't like the bassline in the verses.
I realize that it is a BIG part of the tune but it doesn't work in my ears for what its worth, ($.02)
I really like the chorus, that works for me.
Overall, I'd say a pretty honest effort, Good Job.
Everything sounds nice and clear and fairly well balanced mix wise.
I am tempted to actually say the main vocal is a hair too loud in this as you have a very strong and distinctive voice that stands out quite well. Perhaps a 1/2 to 1db drop would work.
Compositionally, the song is competent but a little repetitive in its structure. A bridge or third part might help to keep the listener interested or perhaps the addition of a guitar or keyboard solo somewhere after the first chorus. Just my 2 Centavos
