NL5 posted this drum track some time ago and I decided to write a song around the drums without chopping it up. This started off as an acoustic song with different lyrics but the pain inflicted upon my ears was too much. Eventually this thing morphed into a heavier song with a new set of lyrics.

The only thing that I've done so far is add reverb and compression. I have not touched my eq's except for a high pass on everthing. What else do you think this thing needs besides starting over again? :o This song and mix has pretty much burned me out. I think it is time to start something new and back slowly away from this one.

Warning: Dammit Jim, I'm a guitar player not a singer!

I think this song needs me!!! Ok, not really. That might ruin it... :o
It just sounds a little thin to me. Everything seems pretty clean, so maybe just play with some eq. Maybe try dropping a little of the higher mids, or something. Sounds pretty cool though.

Hey that sounds pretty cool. The drums and rhythm sound great and the cymbal sounds later are a cool addition. I dig that raw rocking guitar sound too. Cool outro, and keep singing... it's not bad at all.

Now get to work on adding Dogman :p every song posted here should be required to have Dogman added :D

I can't listen yet, but had to post anyway!! If this song needs DOG, then I know it has got to rock to start with!!

Maybe Dogman needs to belt out some vocals for this one.

Dog and Snake, thanks for taking a listen.

I seem to always have a problem with my recordings sounding thin. Do you think this problem starts off with the initial tracking? When each individual instrument is played by itself my ear's hear the dynamics and range that I like. Then as each track is added the sound that I thought was decent is no longer there.

I would like more punch but at this point I just don't know what to even start tinkering with. Plus it sucks to be scared of all those little knobs on my computer screen. :(

I don't think it's in the tracking. You might just have too much of the same sounds happening at once, and so the volume level on teh ends is a bit low, so you can keep the middle freq's from clipping. I heard some music that Farview put up, that had minimal eq on it. He'd be the best to help with something like that, but you might just try and use some negative eq on the frequencies toward teh center, and see if that "boosts" the lows and highs a little. Then, you could raise the overall volume of the track a little. Maybe even a small amount of compression at that point.
Also, good song.

Thanks for the feed back Noisybob.

I think I'm starting to understand what is going wrong with the mixes. I have read and searched in an attempt to get a better sound, but it's still diffficult to translate this into a solid sounding mix. The few things that I've done always seem to be missing something.
