I have just finished an new demo! and i would really appreciate some feedback! I currently have alot of trouble mastering. So wouldn't mind some tips on that aswell!
I'm not sure how to respond. Techno/EDM isn't my style of music.
Sound quality wise, things sound distorted to me which I'm sure is the choice of synth voice. I'm talking about the sections from :45 to 1:20 and from 2:15 to 3:00. The sound is pumping, which indicates a compression problem. My best guess is that the kick is triggering the compressor which knocks everything down.
Between those two items, it makes it unlistenable for me.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, but there's work needed here.
Yeah the pumping after the drop is out of control, IMO. Like TalismanRich, this isn't really my genre, although I know that the pumping sound is extremely popular. But this is just too much, IMHO.
I think the sequenced synth part that starts this is a little dull, and when I heard it I thought "This is going to be awful..." but I soldiered on to find that you actually did a whole bunch of stuff further along which made it a lot more interesting. Can't comment on the mix as I'm on a laptop but what I would suggest is to run some sort of envelope filter across that initial sequenced bit so there's a bit more "movement" going on with it. Easy to do. Give it a try and see what you think.
I think the drums should be louder, the kick at the drop is not loud enough to make it good and choose the kick that have a little click at the start of the sample. Turn down the lead and crowd sound a bit so it doesnt overwhelm other elements.
Its really fire IMO and if you apply those tips I gave, it will be almost perfect!
