Nice Condensers

Hello,

I have a video business and I am building up my stable mics.

I have an AKG shotgun and a pair of NT5's.

Another pair of condensers would give me a nice range of options to be able to mic a live recital/concert.

So I am looking for suggestions to finish out my setup.

Opinions and experience are more important than the cheapest price to me.

Should I try to improve on the NT5's?

Thanks

How about something multipattern so you could do mid-side or Blumlein?

Also I've read that you can do some radical stereo with a shotgun pair, but I've never used a shotgun :(

Earthworks is a name I have heard quite a lot when quality is important.

I have never heard of DPA. I bet they sound great.

Yo Bassman. Yeah, the DPA's are among the finest and most expensive small diaphragm mics in the world. Their only real competition is Schoeps, which don't come cheap either. If you can afford either one, congratulations. More affordable alternatives, working my way down in price, would be: Neumann KM184, Josephson C42, AKG C451, and Shure SM81. I guarantee none of those mics will disappoint.-Richie

Thanks for your reply.

I was thinking of a setup that involves a stereo pair and two closer, boundary type microphones.

Since I have two NT5's, I guess I am looking for mic's that would be placed a little closer to the stage, but not "close mic'd".

So I a kind of high sound pressure level will be put into the mic.
