Good day. I'm considering picking up Native Instruments' Kompakt sampler around the holidays, but while checking out the spec sheet, it says 'No' to 'Assignable external CCs (continuous controllers such as MIDI controllers, velocity, pitchbend…) per Group'. Does this mean I couldn't automate or sequence CC changes (filter sweep, pitch change, etc)? If so, what a shame. That seems to be the biggest drawback, besides the limited effects (no saturation, lo-fi, etc) Any ideas?!

Thanks
Chris

If there's one thing that Native Instruments have never been known to skimp on, it's freely assignable midi CC for every aspect of the instrument in question.

I couldn't find the 'no' that you read in the spec sheet on their web site, but I did find further explanation of groups of instruments that has a full page on assigning, printing and editing midi CC's.

In my experience, assigning a CC to a parameter in any NI application has been as easy as left clicking and selecting 'midi learn', then sending the appropriate CC from your external controller.

So yes Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus and if he brings you NI Kompakt you WILL be able to do recordable filter sweeps, pitch changes and much much more...

Groups refer to samples and zones assigned to them (i.e. you could set the hi-hats to a group so that one hi-hat sample stops another, and retriggers a new one, and all your other drums could be assigned to another group, and a snare roll sample and regular snare hits are in another). That's all groups are. All the effects and envelopes, and etc., are independent of the groups, and can be assigned CC's.
