Here's my setup so far;

- Tascam 238 syncaset
- (older)Behringer 2ch. Studio Comp.[with sidechain(how to use?)]
- 2x Behringer Studi parametric EQ
- Oxmoor 4in/4out mixing matrix
- Alesis quadraverb
- Zoom RFX-2000(piece of shit,but fun)
- Behringer patchbay

And I've also got an old Solton Mixer that was expanded from 8 to 16 channel.
I'm planning to get a better desk in the future,but for now I need(want) some rack gear,what would you buy to this setup.Nothing too expensive,but essentials to record some demos to friends band.It's my first real rec. job,I've done mostly home demos with this setup,but this is the time for "real" recording...

I think the important outboard gear is usually a good reverb and compressor. The Behringer compressor might be all you need. I would upgrade your reverb. There are reverbs better than the quadraverb, like the TC Electronic and Lexicon reverbs.

If you play rock or heavy music, I think opto-electric tube compressors are a great tool for giving kick and snare drum, bass guitar, and vocals some impact and coloration. Techno music and hip-hop music use them a lot too. TL Audio, ART, and Joe Meek make some good ones.
