I've had a LOT of mileage out of
my Soundtracs Topaz project 8. It's been a bit of a step down from my Allen & Heath Saber 24/16/16/2 but space and reliability (the Saber was 19 years old) was what I was looking for.
For the price it still blows the Mackie 8 buss boards clean out the water with it's mic pre's and EQ. Routing options are really good. I do however read a lot of posts with people complaining about the AUX sends. AUX 1 is pre faber, AUX 2 is constantly in the monitor path AUX 3/5 and 4/6 can be switched into the monitor path by a push switch...so 2 post fader AUX sends isn't a lot on mixdown but what you have to remember is you have 4 post fader AUX sends of which any 2 of the 4 are selectable for any channel.
The peak lights have a tendency to come on a bit early, close to -10 before clip but they are just warning lights to tell you that you are close to clipping. The thing has tons of headroom, you can have the meters lit up like a christmas tree with no audiable distortion.
It's a well built console, pots don't feel flimsy or cheap. The faders glide with a nice amount of resistance. I'd have liked a built in talkback mic, there's an XLR talkback input on the master section on the board. I'd also have liked a talkback button that didn't lock when depressed but beggars can't be chosers I suppose.
If you're looking for something a bit more upmarket
the Allen & Heath GS3000 is a very nice 8 buss board
Whatever way you go, you'll wonder why you ever had the Behringer in the first place.
Good luck on your search.
