Hi New to this group, but not to recording....
I have a Presonus Firebox (Firewire - $300.00) that is fed by an M-audio DMP3 preamp. Very reliable and I think sounds decent. Doing recording one instrument at a time (vocals, virtual drums, acoustic-electric-bass). Would the overall sound quality be improved if I jumped up to an interface in the $800.00 range? No specific brands as of yet, but in general will I get a better sound if I'm in that price range? Does a more expensive unit convert audio to digital (and vise-versa) better than a cheaper unit?
thanks Randy....

Interesting question, Randy.
I'd check out the reviews for whichever unit you decide on, then come back here and ask again.

Mybe so, maybe not.

My advice would be to spend the 800 on some better monitors, that would indeed help with your mixing.

Thanks for the suggestions. Since I've posted I've looked at several and am most serious about the Lynx AES16e. So if it's an AES16e, would that make a difference in the quality of sound?
As far as monitors, I have some Tapco which I like. They retail for around $650.00.

thanks again
Randy
