Hey friends,

This is someone else's song that I was did while working on edits for another project.

Some things I'm wondering about specifically.. Is the snare too low? The drums were triggered so these are all samples. The snare was way too bright and EQing some low end wasn't working so I distorted it to hell and back in the low mids instead. It sounded great until I limited the mix, but I'm afraid the limiter chopped off some of those harmonics... What would you do about that?

Are the vocal delays too pronounced? I tried to side-chain compresses them from the main vox track to only peak out in the quiet spaces..

Any overall thoughts?
Thanks!

Who is this? It sounds like The Almost or Underoath.

Most of the drums sound too low except the kick, and a couple of cymbal hits. Kick is too loud, and the snare is missing...I can't really hear it at all.

Yeah huh? He does sound a bit like Aaron.. I don't know anything about the band, not even their name. The dude who posted it didn't give much info.

Really? Even the toms? Hum.. I guess i'll bump up my drum bus some then except the kick. I was worried it was too loud.
So, with the snare, I ended up with something like 8 db of gain on my distortion plug, which made the thing far too loud, but i wanted that tone, so I then backed off the actual snare quite a lot. To the point where the distortion channel (as an pre fade aux) is about 50% higher in level than the snare itself. I really liked it before the limiter, and that kinda jacked things up. Are all of those extra harmonics just being limited away then?
