Hello folks,

Please accept my apologies for the sheer newbyness of this question, but I'm a real beginner and I need some help!

I record on a Zoom MRS 1266 (don't laugh) - it's a studio-in-a-box system and it suits me fine. However, I'd like more control over editing and mixing, so I'd like to import the recorded data into a Mac-based mixer/studio package.

I know Pro Tools 5.1 is free, so before I spend anything on my experiments I thought I'd try 5.1 out. Then I see that you need OMS to work with Pro Tools, so I download that - only to find that it crashes my machine when I try to install it. I think it's because you need your MIDI interface and MIDI stuff all hooked up to the computer before you install.

Anyway, as the Pro Tools route may not be possible, can anyone tell me what I should do? My Zoom recorder has a USB port, so I can hook it to my Mac no porblem. Zoom also have a program called Takewave that lets you import the sound data onto your computer. BUT! Which mac-based mixer / sequencer should I use?

Perhaps more importantly, is any of this possible?

Many thanks,

Jerky

the free protools is useless and junk. just spend some money and pay for n-tracks or something. You will be better off because its a better software and better hardware support.
