I'm a newbie recorder who want to record a cassette from a CD to use for my walkman. It's easy to do, but the sound I got after recording the cassette is slightly heavy or bassy. What's the way to make it as nice as the CD sound? Also, does the adjustment of the graphic equaliser influence my recording and who knows it's the cause of the sound I get? Anyway, please tell me how to do the best recording. Thank you.

Note: Plz don't tell me something that I have to buy a new recorder or an expensive cassette.

I'm now using a normal position cassette and a CD-Cassette (Sanyo MCD850) radio player.

MW, your best bet without spending any green is to experiment with eq settings. If your reciever has a "super bass" circuit, make sure it's off.

Can you list what kind of equipment you're using? Tape deck, reciever, patch cords, EQ, CD source? What kind of tape are you using? Are you doing this from a computer? If so, what kind of software have you got?

well, you could try to record to a chrome tape instead, the boosting of the bass is typicall for normal tapes. If you're using a typicall home stereo, the EQ settings have no influence

There's no way in hell you'll get the absolute sound you're looking for, but getting a good tape would definitely improve the quality.

You probably all ready thought of this, but:

If your cd player has two outputs (ie headphones and line out) you may want to make sure you are recording from the line out. If you record from the headphone output many cd players add base to 'improve' the sound.

Unfortunately, mechwarrior9999, you are not going to get a "great" recording, when you are recording onto cassette.

:(
