Hey All,

I'm Helen and I'm 31, I've joined this site to get a little feedback on my voice. I've been in choirs over the year but never done anything solo and haven't done any singing in the past ten years.
I've been asked to sing at my cousins wedding next year so before I agree to do it I want to get some feedback from you lovely people.
I'm not very savvy on tech, so how do I record my voice and upload to this site? Is there a simple app I could download for recording.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Helen

Depends how involved you want to get.

People use the iPhones to capture audio....if that's all you want.
Otherwise, some basic/decent microphone and a simple USB interface is a better way to get started with audio recording.

Budget is the other consideration.

There are a few "stickies" here n the Newbie forum....they already cover a lot of basic newbie questions.

You know, just sing anyway. You will be amongst friends and they will appreciate the effort and thought that will go with the performance.

Hi Helen and welcome.
This is one of the very few times that I am going to suggest a USB microphone, why?
They are cheap. £50 gets you something pretty decent and you can't get a mic and interface under about 3 times that.

As a chorister you know doubt have a strong voice and the main problem people find with such mics is lack of sensitivity. I doubt you will.

If you keep the microphone and its box pristine you could probably recoup 50% + of the price on EBay should you not want to pursue recording (or indeed flog it for a better setup!) .

I bought a "Prosound" on offer at 40 quid and it really was not bad at all. Very musical son has half inched it and taken it back to France with him!

Dave.
