I am just getting into digital recording and with a good bit of studying I chose to go with cakewalk. I have a nice set up, but i am experiencing some diffuculties getting started. i can't get my vocals to record.
I am running a III/700/256/20 system. I have done a nice bit of analog recording, but this is different and i am totally lost. Can i get some help? I am running shure mics into a Mackie vlzpro into my sb live card and running it into the mic line input on my system..where am i gooing wrong?

Thanks

Are you running it into the mic input or the line input.

Two things to check... Have you selected SB Live Wave in for the source under the track properties for the tracks you want to record the vocals on? and... in the Creative Mixer have you un-muted the mic input (or line input) and changed to the mic input for the recording tab in the Creative Mixer?

I just bought a book called "Cakewalk Power" by Scott Garrigus which explains all this kind of stuff pretty well. You might try to find a copy.

I am going to give that a try and see what happns. I have a VLZPRO1202. And i am using some alesis monitors and sony studio monitor headphones. I am using the main outputs on the mackie board. Thanks for the info. I will get back to you and let you know how it turned out for me.
