hiya, i was wondering if i stand any chance of doing some good recording with a recording software and a cheap mic. I'd like to record my voice singing to karaoke songs. im into pop music. any kind of help or information on software would be really appreciated

thx

Depends on what you mean by good. As in, sounds ok to my friends or I want to submit this to an agent to see if I can get signed. You can record with a mike and software if you have a soundcard which supports that... most do.

Hi Chris. Check out n-Tracks for cheap, really good recording software. It costs about $60 I think. There's a forum on this bbs if you want to do searches or ask questions. Also, a Shure SM58 is a cheap but okay mic, plus it *looks* like a karaoke mic with that mesh ball on the end. You can get one for about $100. Sing well.

Yes, I agree with rjt.

It depends what you need these recordings for, and who is listening to them.

These factors make a difference when it comes to defining what "sounds good".

Post back, to let us know......:D

yep....... for about 200 U can have a nice mic and a decent preamp to run that mic..... and that would be a ART Tube MP and a Shure SM58. If U are interested in just laying some vocals over karaoke music, that setup should be fine, and N-Tracks for software. Depends on your budget
