Newbie: connecting XP-80 to computer for recording
Greetings fellas,
I'm a brass, singing and piano teacher from Sydney, Aust. I've been toying with the idea of recording on my pc. I'm an avid composer and am very (I mean extremely!) keen to start bringing my ideas into reality.
I have been messing with my Roland XP-80 for many years, I've found it extremely useful and complex. My puter is a little outdated; pent III 600 128ram 20gig creative live value s/c (can't wait to update this one!).
I bought a Rol UM-2, don't know why but I use it. As it's midi I can't use my keyboard sounds. What are the best ways of recording my keyboard sounds? I was going to buy a 4-track and toy around with that but I'd rather use my puter to record.
My keyboard only has your standard 'guitar jack' outputs, what setups can convert these into my puter. Or is my wish all in vain?
I look forward to many enlightening posts.
No idea where to go from here,
Andy
