I have a 424mkIII and am trying to create a good set up for recording country acoustic demos. Besides the tascam recorder, I have a couple samson s12 hypercardoid mics, and a Biamp 83RX 8 channel mixer for final mix downs. I've just started recording again with it, and I noticed that the recordings sound rather dull and lifeless. I was considering adding a dbx 286a mic preamp and a bbe sonic maximizer to help. Am I headed in the right direction here or not?
