newbie to cakewalk

I wanted to record a group of us all at once with a click track. I figured there would be a metronome or something within Cakewalk I could turn on and monitor, but couldn't figure it out and ended up just using a synth drum on my keyboard instead. Does anyone know the quick way to just get a click track? Or must I use the keyboard's?

And a second question can you mix midi and analog recording on the same project or must you first mix down the midi to one track then record with it?
 
what Cake are you using? Sonar has a metronome with click function.
 
Sonar 3 and earlier has a midi metronome. You have to have a midi synth in order to use it.

Sonar 4 has an audio metronome.

You can mix midi and audio in a single project; however, when you are ready to export the project to a wave file, you must convert the midi to audio. However, they do not need to be all on one track. You can record each midi track to its own audio track.

Even better, to me at least, is to use DXi's as your midi synth (e.g., Edirol VSC, etc.). These do not need to be converted to audio for mixdown purposes.
 
I'm using Sonar 4 producer ed. Anyone know off the top of their head how to activate the metronome?
 
Open Sonar, go Options --> Project --> Metronome...

There's also pretty copious documentation in the help file. That's how I found out.
 
on the tool bar there are two icons ... metronome that is being recording....and metronome that is not recorded
