Hello,
I'm new here (and to recording) and some questions. I need to be able to record a band that i'm in and I need advice on what equipment to buy. I have a computer and i'd prefer a computer interface to something like a digital 8 track. I need to be capable of at least recording a full drum kit. Here are my questions:
1) What would you suggest in terms of an interface?
2) What would I need in terms of mics? (next weekend I have the option of buying new sm58s for 100CAD. Could I get a good kit sound with only those?)
3) What headphones would I need?
4) Monitors?
5) Anything that I missed?
I really appreciate any responses and I'm looking forward to being a part of this forum.
(EDIT: Right now i'm looking at an E-Mu 1820, Sennheiser HD280s, 3xSM58s, and one condensor that would work as a drum overhead. I dont want to buy a kick mic if i dont have to. Also would the 58s be good enough for recording vocals?)
