just looking for an everall way of recording th eband at the moment.... im thinking of getting a di box for the bass and another mic for the drums..... so do you think recording us all together ( everything thru the p.a to pc ) will sound ok aslong as we check the levels before hand because we'll be recording to 1 track.......

and the problem at the moment was the headphones as a monitor for the drummer...... the audio wasnt loud enough and i couldnt make it any louder......

I only thought you were talking about monitoring problems while playing. I didn't think you meant recording the whole entire band on 1 track. What type of sound card do you have? Recording the entire band on one track usually will not sound very good.

It's my opinion that you ain't gonna be happy at all recording in that fashion. Multitracking is about the only way to get the controll you need to get a good mix.

the sound card is a 'SiS 7018' and is there anyway to record the different channels ( we'll be using 4 ) to individual tracks at the same time? or can they only go to one track?

Could someone also explain the best way to record my band 'live'? and how many mics etc... and anything else that wud be needed...
