I count on me
Hope someone can help me with this. I'm not a newbie to recording, but I am new to CEP.

How do I apply different settings of an effect to a segment of a track while the balance of the effect on the same track is applied differently? I'm specifically referring to different reverb/delay settings on the lead vocal track of a song that transitions from a hard driving verse/chorus into a slower, dreamy bridge.

I apologize if I've missed this in the manual. My digital work station allows me to do this through the use of scenes, but I have plug-ins I want to use on my PC that are not available on my DAW.

I know I can always create a separate track for the segment I want to treat differently, but I'd prefer to keep things all on one track if possible.

Ideas?

Thanks,

Bartman

Go to Edit View, click one end of the area of the track you want to use the effects on, and drag to the other end of the desired portion; this will generate a "highlighted" (differently colored, usually lighter) area. You have just "selected" the part of the track that the effects will, um, affect. Use whatever effect you have selected, then move on to the next area you want to enhance, and do the same thing.

A useful rule is to do this to a copy of the original track in case you don't like the result.

Thank You

Thanks for the information.

I feel humbled. The solution sounds as simple as a highlight & format in Microsoft Word.

Actually a lot of the commands are similar. Ctrl/X to cut, for example, and Ctrl/Z to undo. The Help section lists a lot of keyboard shortcuts.

Hey LP

I noticed you are in Texas too. I'm in Sugar Land.

The singer in my band is from Beaumont.

"The singer in my band is from Beaumont."

That's no excuse. :D

Hi...I'm from Texas too, so I'll ask. Anybody know what the FX envelopes do in the multitrack? Anybody use 'em?

They vary the parameters of certain effects over time, such as those in the pan / expand effect.
