I am trying to record using cool edit software, monitoring myself with headphones. After recording a track when I want to record other tracks while hearing what I just recorded the old track "bleeds" into the new track, unabling me to do multitrack recordings.

Any ideas about what am I doing wrong?

Thank you

What hardware are you using?

What are you recording?

How are you recording?

More info would be grrrrrrrrrrrreat!

make sure you are using closed ear headphones. also just try turning down the volume of the headphones until you can't hear it in the mic anymore.

I am using closed ear headphones, their volume is not picked up by the microphone.

The hardware I am using is a Sound Blaster Audigy, with a SM-57 microphone in it's imput.

The headphones are not loud enough to be recorded from the microphone wich is several feets away from them.

I am trying to record some guitar and vocal parts over drumtracks I have created to make demos before a studio session.

The software I am using is Cool Edit pro.

It seems I am missing to turn off something on the soundcard that records the part that I am hearing while I am recording a different track, this makes every track recorded before to be recorded again in the new track.

Thank you

no, i don't think its a hardware problem. I think this is a problem specific to col edit. If you look in the cool edti forum, it was addressed and for a time it was a sticky (i'm not sure if it still is). if it isn't do a search in there for your ansswer.

Thank you! I feel so glad and stupid at the same time...

Anyways thank all of you for your input
