Hi Gang, enjoyed your posts,

I have 2 condenser mikes going to a Mackie 1202 vlz hooked to a Fostex MR8. When I record I pan the mikes left to the left and right to the right on both the Mackie and the Fostex. I'm recording classical guitar. Is this the right way to do it? I'm new to this. Thanks Rick

I am assuming that you have to pan hard right and left on the mackie to route the signal to the Fostex properly. After that, it is up to you how you pan things. Most of the time, solo classical guitar recordings are not really wide sounding.

With the MR-8, the panning feature doesn't really have any effect until you are mixing down. You could record both channels centered and pan later on. But Farview is right, most of the time classical guitar solo'd isn't panned very hard.
