You can have ten mics; but they don't do "nuttin" unless you pump them through an amp and then from the amp to the speaker and then add in the reverb unit and, if you need it, an equalizer, and the toe bone is connected to the foot bone, the foot bone is connected to the ankle bone, the ankle is connected to the shin bone, and the shin bone is connected to the knee bone....and that's the word of sound.
