newbie mixdown question

hi guys i was wondering what is the best software on computer to mix anologue multitrackers down to 2 tracks then burn to CD and what would be the best way to connect the multitracker to the computer

Get a simple 2-channel interface, and then you could probably even get away with using Audacity, a free recording program, and then burn with Nero, or what have you. There are other, more expensive programs, but for just doing a stereo mixdown, you most likely won't need Cubase SX or Logic or anything like that. ;)

There are valid setups for each...

You're going to need PQ editing software and converters to bring the signal in basically - There are cheap, not so cheap, nice, really good, wonderful, etc. in each category.
