newbie mixdown question

hi guys i was wondering what is the best software on computer to mix anologue multitrackers down to 2 tracks then burn to CD and what would be the best way to connect the multitracker to the computer

Get a simple 2-channel interface, and then you could probably even get away with using Audacity, a free recording program, and then burn with Nero, or what have you. There are other, more expensive programs, but for just doing a stereo mixdown, you most likely won't need Cubase SX or Logic or anything like that.

There are valid setups for each...

You're going to need PQ editing software and converters to bring the signal in basically - There are cheap, not so cheap, nice, really good, wonderful, etc. in each category.
