Hi guys,

I'm primarily a guitarist singer/songwriter and I'm wanting to add some keyboard sounds. I know a little about MIDI (I use a keyboard for note entry in a notation program) but not too much. But what I'm really curious about is how to go about learning some of the more synth-specific stuff. I can scroll through patches and try them out and all (I have an EMU vintage keys module), but I know there's a ton of editing you can do to the sounds. When they start talking about LFO (Low Frequency Osciallator [sp?] right?) and Primary Filters and Auxilliary Envelopes I'm pretty much like "whosa jigga wha??"

Are there some good books that y'all could recommend for getting into this kind of stuff ... or ... anything else? Where should I start?

Thanks for any input.

This site is a good place to start on synth basics, and here are links to two good articles on midi basics - part one and part two. They may be a little too basic for you, but we can all use a refresher course now and then...
