Newbie needs help. I'm looking to help a friend produce a demo cd. Am in the process of purchasing a new computer to be used for video editing (sufficient disk space, processor, etc). Looking for software to create a "virtual" studio. Software needs to be "relatively" user friendly.

Want to know if CEP would be appropriate to use to accomplish this project. Will accept any recommendations.

Also, what other equipment should we consider purchasing in addition to mike(s). '

Thanks.

I think you mean Audio editing... Video is kind of Adobe Premiere things. :)

Audio "Virtual Studio" software... you have many options as you must know first what will you do the most. CEP is one of the greatest. Easy to use, complete all in one, friendly, great performance, great ability, etc... however, it doesn't alow you to do a MIDI work, else than playback your pre sequenced MIDI files along with your audio in CEP. SONAR and Cubase offer fairly better in Audio & MIDI. Powerfull enough to whatever you need to produce a home studio quality CD (...even Pro quality when you master 'em!). You can look around this BBS for them to work as you need.
:)

And acording to what else do you need... you better describe what's your goal, what will you record, how do you call "Studio", and what's your budget. Vary answer you can get. But for simple start, you need to have soundcard, mic, preamp, monitoring sound system, and any necesary cables required, That's it. (beside softwarez). Somehow, in sumthin more complex case (like drums, guitars & amps, etc...) you're gonna need many more stuff. But don't worry, we'll help you in any oppinion.
:)

FYI

If you are looking for something that is free and has midi capability, try anvilstudio
