Newbie Help w/mic and Mbox preamp

Hello everyone I am new here and just had a couple of questions.

I have an AT3035 mic and an Mbox

I wanted to now about the mic preamp on the Mbox, is it garbage or can you make some decent vocal recordings of off it?

The MBox pres are not garbage. They're decent and acceptable entry level pres. A good engineer could do wonderful things with your mic and the MBox.

I guess what I mean is that there's really nothing about your AT and MBox that would stand in your way. Of course, there are numerous other factors that will play a role in your recording life. Monitoring chain, room, source talent, mixing and editing skills, etc.

Hey guys thanks a lot

Some people just told me that the pre's on the Mbox were not that good.

I just got both of them so I really did not tryit try it, but I played around a little bit w/it and it sounds pretty good to me, but I really never heard/tried anything else. I know there is a lot of better things out there I just wanted to make sure that I can get some good recordings on it.

I eval'ed an Mbox but I haven't gotten around to writing the review. The mic pres surprised me. No, they're not the best mic pres in the world but they don't suck either. I liked the DI as well. If I were starting out today, then I'd definitely have the Mbox at the top of my list.
 
Thanks I feel better now about the MBOX preamps. It has really been bothering me.

One more question, I don't know if I should ask it here or not.

My budget is kind of slim, but I need some monitors, I have been looking at the Alesis Proactive 2.0's.

I read a couple of things on them and they seem pretty good. I just wondering if anyone had experience with them or know if they are good or not?
